Crestwood School: Intro & Overview

With this post I’m continuing the recent series of videos we produced to showcase private and independent schools across Canada. These overviews highlight the unique programs and educational philosophies of each institution, aiming to assist families in navigating their school choices. I’m sharing them here as part of the ongoing work I’ve been doing with Our Kids Media. This video covers Kingsway College School, located in Toronto, Ontario.

Crestwood School focuses on individualized education, making sure every student’s unique talents and interests are recognized and supported. Set in a green, welcoming space, the school caters to students with different learning styles and celebrates what makes each student unique, whether it’s in academics or extracurricular activities. The school strikes a balance between traditional teaching methods and new ideas, working to support intellectual growth along with creativity, social skills, and emotional development.

Founded in 1980 by Dalia Eisen, Crestwood started with just seven students and grew quickly thanks to positive word-of-mouth. Eisen’s vision is still at the heart of the school: creating a warm, supportive environment where students feel valued and confident. Teachers take time to really know each student, tailoring their approach to fit individual needs and celebrating successes, big or small.

The school’s “Roots” program offers extra academic support for students who need it, especially with reading and writing. Smaller classes allow for more one-on-one attention, helping students catch up and move back into mainstream classes when they’re ready.

Crestwood also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities to help students find their passions. The school emphasizes overall well-being, supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally, with access to additional resources like social workers or therapists when needed.
